Ceradyne's Thermo Materials Division is the leader in the production of
ultra-high purity fused silica slip for manufacturing radomes and has supplied
the world market with this material since 1970. Additionally, Ceradyne has
developed silicon nitride materials useful as radome materials.
Thermo Materials is a fully integrated manufacturer of ceramic radomes, or nose
cones, for missile systems, using fused silica and silicon nitride based

Ceradyne's radomes are used for applications requiring transparency to various
microwave energy, and mechanical strength to allow the missile system to
withstand erosion and large temperature excursions while flying at
hyper-velocity through the atmosphere.
Thermo Materials has a fully integrated 33,000 square foot (3,066 m2)
manufacturing facility which is dedicated to the manufacture of ceramic
radomes.
